Teaching and Research: Teaches courses in "Professionalism and Ethics," "Structural Analysis and Design", and "Engineering Mechanics: Statics and Solid Mechanics." Conducts research for the Texas Board of Registration for Professional Engineers, developing new teaching methods and materials for engineering professionalism and ethics. Develops materials andresources for engineering professionalism and ethics programs for the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying, Texas Engineering Foundation, and National Society of Professional Engineers/Professional Engineering in Education. Coordinates a project sponsored by the National Science Foundation to address the ethics and conduct component in the North American Free Trade Agreement(NAFTA) that relates to engineering practice.
Service: Serves the profession at the national level in the National Society of Professional Engineers (National Director); the Board of Ethical Review (Member); the National Institute for Engineering Ethics (Immediate Past President); the Engineering Accreditation Commission (Member, Team Chair); serves at the state level in the Texas Society of Professional Engineers (Immediate Past President); Education and Industry Advisory Committees for the Texas State Board of Engineering Registration (Member & Coordinator); serves at the local level as Past President,South Plains Chapter, TSPE. Community service includes the Lubbock Board of Urban Renewal and the Lubbock Neighborhood Redevelopment Commission.
