Welcome to the Online Ethics Center for Engineering and Science

Our mission is to provide engineers, scientists, and science and engineering students with resources for understanding and addressing ethically significant problems that arise in their work, and to serve those who are promoting learning and advancing the understanding of responsible research and practice in science and engineering.

Access to and use of this site, Online Ethics Center for Engineering and Science ('OEC'), is subject to the following terms and conditions:

  1. By using the OEC you agree to be bound by these terms, which shall take effect immediately on your first use of the OEC.
  2. The OEC may change these terms at any time by posting changes online at http://onlineethics.org/tos.html. Please review these terms regularly to ensure you are aware of any changes. Your continued use of the OEC after changes are posted means you agree to be bound by these terms as updated and/or amended.

Use of the OEC

  1. You are welcome to link to this site, or individual pages on this site, and may print copies for your personal use or for other purposes that are educational in nature and non-commercial, e.g. classroom use. Where an author is listed and that author is NOT a member of the OEC team, that author's permission should be obtained for use of that work.
  2. You may not republish (in any form) download, post, broadcast, transmit or otherwise use OEC content in any way except for your own personal, non-commercial use (Permissible use includes distribution of the printed web pages to students.) You also agree not to adapt, alter or create a derivative work from any OEC content except for your own personal, non-commercial use, except with permission. To inquire

Intellectual Property

  1. If there is any conflict between these terms and specific terms appearing elsewhere on the OEC then the latter shall prevail.
  2. These terms shall be governed by and interpreted in accordance with the laws of Ohio and the United States of America.
